The Imacon 848 & 949 scanners use Imacon's FlexTight technology which utilizes flexible magnetic negative holders that draw your film into the scanner on a curve. This allows the Imacon to emulate the optics of a drum scanner, but without the glass. That means no newton ring problems with the same image and color quality of a drum scan. And since you have complete control with Imacon's FlexColor scanning software, your scans are balanced exactly how you want them.
The Imacons are fast. While a typical drum scanner will take 30-45 minutes to scan a 100MB file from a 6X6 negative, the Imacon 848 can do the same job in just 3-4 minutes. The 949 will do it in 2. Once you save your own custom profiles, you can easily get 10-12 scans an hour done, bringing your cost all the way down to $5ºº per scan!
